To understand a winery and its wines, it is worth taking a look at its history and wine cellar. That is exactly what we want to offer you on this tour, and we hope to whet your appetite for Riesling. Afterwards, you will taste three of our wines and you will see – your appreciation for a wine increases when you know its roots!

Schloss Johannisberg is considered the oldest Riesling winery in the world and is a fascinating place where the history of wine comes to life. It was here that the legendary Spätlese was discovered – a discovery that revolutionised the entire world of wine.
We invite you to explore the fascinating history of our winery on an exclusive, private guided tour. Learn first-hand how the tradition of winegrowing, combined with state-of-the-art cultivation methods, ensures the highest quality.
After the tour, you can look forward to an exquisite wine tasting, where you will sample the different categories that reflect the diversity and elegance of our wines. We will explain our quality philosophy, which is based on respect for nature, craftsmanship and innovative approaches.
We charge a flat rate for groups of one to ten people.
LATE HARVEST WITH HISTORY
Experience an exclusive wine tasting at the origin of the Spätlese:
Schloss Johannisberg in the Rheingau. Taste rare Riesling Spätlese wines from the historic Bibliotheca Subterranea and learn more about the legendary “late harvest” of 1775 in a unique setting.

THE WINE SHOP
The wine shop at Schloss Johannisberg is located in the middle of the palace grounds. Here you can taste, experience and buy Schloss Johannisberg wines. We will be happy to advise you on your personal choice of wine in our wine shop.
