Finding Their Sound
“It feels a bit like we’ve finally arrived”—that’s how the members of Trio Orelon describe their feelings after winning the 2023 ARD Music Competition. And indeed: in their playing, one senses a deep rapport, an almost magical homogeneity of sound. Harmony, creativity, and a spirit of discovery define the ensemble, founded in Cologne in 2019, whose name comes from the international language Esperanto, in which “Orelon” simply means “ear.” This symbol of listening runs through their music-making: attentive, sensitive, in constant dialogue with one another and with the audience. The program for their debut with us takes listeners through the lyrical world of Edvard Grieg, the exuberant romanticism of Johannes Brahms, and the expressive power of their contemporary composer Amanda Röntgen-Maier—a musical journey full of intimacy and energy, on which these three rising talents will take their audience in our “Ausgezeichnet!” series.
