Schumann: “Dichterliebe”

Schumann: “Dichterliebe”

A Recital Full of Poetry and Depth
As a guest of our “Ausgezeichnet!” series, we are delighted to welcome Jonas Müller—an up-and-coming singer and winner of the 2025 German Business Music Prize—to Johannisberg Castle this coming summer as part of his award-winning tour. The talented baritone not only won over the expert jury with his performance but is currently attracting significant attention in the classical music scene with his warm timbre and his conceptually incredibly strong programs. At the heart of his Johannisberg recital, titled “Zarte Töne, scharfe Zungen” (Tender Tones, Sharp Tongues), is Robert Schumann’s “Dichterliebe”—a musical and literary masterpiece full of longing, moments of great joy, and gnawing pain, which is not without reason considered one of the most significant song cycles in music history. Müller will be accompanied on the piano by Aris Alexander Blettenberg, who knows how to bring out the singer’s interpretations with a keen sense for the nuances. Together, in addition to this weighty cycle, they will present other moving songs by Mahler, Wolf, and Schoenberg that cover the full spectrum of Romantic emotions.

Program

Robert Schumann Dichterliebe op. 48
sowie weitere Werke von Robert Schumann, Gustav Mahler, Hugo Wolf & Arnold Schönberg
