Orangelack – The extraordinary Kabinett

We have revived the sealing color that was once used for high-quality Kabinett wines. Our Schloss Johannisberg Orangelack Riesling Kabinett is marketed via La Place de Bordeaux – and since October of this year, also exclusively in our wine shop at Schloss Johannisberg.

To meet our quality standards, the grapes for our Kabinett must be fully ripe. This allows us to achieve a concentrated fruitiness in our wine. The grapes for the Orangelack come from a small, east-facing parcel of our VDP Grand Cru vineyard in Schlossberg and are carefully selected by hand and gently pressed in a basket press. After fermentation in stainless steel, the wine is aged in double-piece barrels made from the estate’s own oak. This results in a limited quantity of 3,200 bottles.

This special production process, which distinguishes Orangelack from Rotlack, creates a Riesling that captivates tropical aromas and an invigorating coolness. Pineapple and passion fruit combine in the glass with garden herbs such as sage and mint. This makes our Orangelack Kabinett an excellent accompaniment to seafood, white meat, and dishes with a slight spiciness. But it also shines brilliantly in autumn cuisine.

Our food recommendation: Try the Orangelack Kabinett with pumpkin from the oven, refined with fresh herbs and a few chili flakes. Not only is it a feast for the eyes in terms of color, but the sweetness of the pumpkin harmonizes perfectly with the freshness of the Kabinett.
