Irish Folk in a regal setting
Lush greenery, pub culture, and the fiddle—who doesn’t immediately think of the island’s lively yet lyrical folk music when they hear the word “Ireland”? Violinist and fiddler Martin Hayes is considered one of the world’s leading advocates of this cultural heritage and is known for his unique interpretations of traditional Irish music. He describes the essence of this music as a direct and simple expression of emotion: “The melodies are sometimes deceptively simple, but almost always beautiful, and the rhythm is both restrained and rousing. The melodies possess an innate wisdom, a kind of common sense that continues to shape my musical journey to this day.” As part of a trio, he now embarks on this journey once again in the intimate atmosphere of the Fürst-von-Metternich-Saal at Schloss Johannisberg to share his passion for Irish folk music with his audience.
