… German premiere at ProWein Düsseldorf
With the introduction of Gelblack Non-Alcoholic, Schloss Johannisberg and Kolonne Null are expanding their iconic Lack series with a new stylistic interpretation. The collaboration once again combines the centuries-old winemaking artistry of the world’s oldest Riesling winery with Kolonne Null’s pioneering work in the field of premium non-alcoholic wines.
Gelblack Non-Alcoholic represents a deliberate evolution of their joint line and a clear commitment to fully realizing the qualitative potential of non-alcoholic wine creations over the long term and opening up new horizons of flavor.
The Riesling Style, Reimagined as Non-Alcoholic
The Rieslings from Schloss Johannisberg have shaped the estate’s identity for centuries. Together with Kolonne Null, these distinctive styles are now being systematically translated into the premium alcohol-free category for the first time.
Following the visionary Grünlack XO comes a purist, elegant interpretation of the Gelblack—with a focus on precision, minerality, and drinkability, deliberately without opulence.
The wine is de-alcoholized using a finely balanced combination of membrane technology and vacuum distillation—a two-step process that allows the Riesling’s aromatics, structure, and balance to be preserved with exceptional depth.
Clear aromas and precise structure
On the nose, the Gelblack non-alcoholic Riesling is typically clear, with citrus zest, green apple, and white peach, complemented by subtle herbal notes and a precise mineral edge. On the palate, it is dry, taut, and focused, carried by lively acidity, delicate fruit, and salty minerality. The finish is fresh, invigorating, and long, with a deliberately classic Gelblack finish—unpretentious, elegant, precise.
Statements from the partners
Philipp Rößle, founder and CEO of Kolonne Null:
“As an artist, I think a lot about what to leave out—what does a work really need to function? The Grünlack was our statement that non-alcoholic wine can compete on equal footing with the best. With the Gelblack, we’re taking it a step further: focus, clarity, a wine that inspires without being pretentious.”
Stefan Doktor, Managing Director of Schloss Johannisberg:
“With Grünlack XO, the potential of top-tier non-alcoholic wines became very clear to us. The response from the market and the wine industry has encouraged us to continue down this path. Gelblack builds on that and convincingly translates our classic styles into the non-alcoholic world.”
