Berlin/Rheingau, March 2023 – Kolonne Null, pioneer in the premium segment of non-alcoholic wines, and the traditional VDP winery Schloss Johannisberg proudly announce the development of a groundbreaking creation: the first alcohol-free edition of the legendary Grünlack Spätlese.
This special edition is a milestone in wine history and the result of the combination of centuries-old winemaking tradition and state-of-the-art dealcoholization technology. Since 1775, the Grünlack Spätlese has been produced at Schloss Johannisberg. Now, 250 years later, it is available in a sophisticated non-alcoholic version, setting a new benchmark for quality and innovation in the industry.
Outstanding winemaking meets innovation | The exclusive collaboration marks a turning point in the development of high-quality non-alcoholic wines. For the first time, it has been possible to dealcoholize a matured Riesling Spätlese while preserving its extraordinary taste. The result is an outstanding wine of unique balance with 98 grams of sugar per litre and an acidity of 9 grams per litre – a wine that pushes the boundaries of what was previously thought possible in non-alcoholic winemaking. With well over 1000 dealcoholized wines, the Kolonne Null Winemaking Team has built up a unique know-how. The team has set new standards in dealcoholization, strengthening its position as a pioneer in a rapidly evolving market. Michael Worm, winemaker of Kolonne Null, and Gerd Ritter, cellar master at Schloss Johannisberg, have played a crucial role in achieving this milestone and creating an iconic alcohol-free version of the famous Grünlack Spätlese.
