From Great Britain to the World
Eight years ago, British pianist Benjamin Grosvenor—then regarded as a promising newcomer—made his debut at the Rheingau Music Festival. Now, in keeping with this year’s country focus, “United Kingdom,” he returns to the Fürst-von-Metternich-Saal as an internationally renowned piano star. A reunion that not only impressively demonstrates his extraordinary talent but also reaffirms once again that it is worthwhile to provide young artists with a stage at the start of their careers. Today, Grosvenor defies any classification, steadfastly pursuing his own artistic path and has thus earned his place on the world’s greatest stages. In his concert at Johannisberg Castle, in addition to works by Schumann, Scriabin, and Chopin, he will perform two exquisite and rarely heard cycles of variations by Beethoven based on the patriotic British songs “Rule Britannia” and “God Save the King,” revealing the full range of his masterful playing.
