Four international musicians, four unique personalities, one string quartet—the Barbican Quartet embodies an original approach to music-making that captivates with its powerful and virtuosic ensemble playing. Winning first prize at the 2022 ARD International Music Competition truly launched their career. Since then, the ensemble has become one of the most sought-after young string quartets on the scene. We are only too happy to give this string quartet a stage in our “Ausgezeichnet!” series, as its concerts promise moments in which every note commands attention—especially when the program features not only works by Mozart and Adès but also Schubert’s dazzling string quartet, nicknamed “Death and the Maiden.”
