Cello Fellos

Cello Fellos

A New Way to Hear the Cello
With boundless enthusiasm and the courage to explore new musical horizons, the two multi-award-winning soloists and chamber musicians Leonard Disselhorst and Bryan Cheng take their audience on an extraordinary musical journey. As CelloFellos, they have been breaking away from the familiar paths of classical music since 2020, creating a unique sonic universe that blends virtuosity, groove, and passion. With their program “Global Grooves,” they span musical genres from traditional Romanian folk dances through ragtime and swing to newly composed contemporary pop, thereby opening up entirely new horizons for the cello repertoire. In doing so, they draw on their solid classical training without being constrained by it: Improvisation, rhythmic finesse, and a keen sense of musical color define their style. Whether tango, jazz, swing, or elements of folk—in their own arrangements, these two passionate musicians will combine styles, genres, and timbres into a captivating new sonic experience this evening in the Fürst-von-Metternich Hall at Johannisberg Castle.
