Chamber Music in Dialogue
Martynas Levickis, Akkordeon
Goldmund Quartett
On this evening, the award-winning Goldmund Quartet and accordion virtuoso Martynas Levickis create an unusual yet fascinating encounter between string quartet and accordion—two forms of expression that complement each other beautifully through their respective musical qualities. The Goldmund Quartet, named “Rising Stars” by the European Concert Hall Organisation in the 2019/20 season, has since established itself as a top-tier ensemble that breathes new life into classical traditions with a fresh style. Martynas Levickis, last season’s featured artist, enriches the art of the quartet this evening with his virtuosity and creative flair, thereby opening up new perspectives on chamber music. Together, they transform the stage of Schloss Johannisberg into a place of musical curiosity. Beginning with works from the Viennese Classical period, the musicians span a wide arc into the present in their concert, dedicating themselves throughout the program to the fascinating compositions of accordionists and bandoneonists Astor Piazzolla, Franck Angelis, and Gorka Hermosa.
