In 2024, wein.plus introduced a new wine competition: the ‘GOLDEN GRAPE AWARDS’.

All wines that meet the respective varietal specifications can be entered – regardless of origin, vintage or flavour. There are five categories: Silvaner, Grüner Veltiner, Burgundy varieties, Blaufränkisch and Riesling. The awards are presented in the categories of Grand Gold, Gold, Silver and Bronze. We took part with some of our wines and are proud to present the results to you.

Now a few of our wines change colour for a short time. Yellow seal “Gelblack” and red seal “Rotlack” become silver; green seal “Grünlack”, silver seal “Silberlack” and bronze seal “Bronzelack” become gold.
The best result was achieved by our 2023 Schloss Johannisberg Riesling Rosalack Auslese. This sweet wine combines intensity with lightness and won the Grand Gold award. It is not without reason that our vineyard manager Stefan Doktor has a tongue-in-cheek nickname for the Rosalack: ‘The fist in the velvet glove.’

But we don’t want to confuse you with all these colours. What counts is the award and the recognition for our work that it brings. We look forward to reaching wine enthusiasts at home and abroad by participating in the ‘GOLDEN GRAPE AWARDS’.
